Gibson J-200 Price Guide

The Gibson J-200 (originally called the Super Jumbo) is Gibson's largest and most ornate flat-top guitar. Introduced in 1937 as a custom guitar for Ray Whitley, it became synonymous with country and western music. Its distinctive mustache bridge, large flower-pot headstock inlay, and jumbo body make it one of the most visually striking acoustic guitars ever produced.

📖 Buyer's Guide

Pre-war J-200s (1937-1942) are extremely rare and valuable. Post-war models from 1947-1965 represent the golden era of production. The ebony or rosewood fingerboard, depending on year, and the mustache bridge are key dating features. Top finish checking is common on older examples and minimally impacts value. Avoid examples with repaired bridge plates.
